Rope-a-Dope (Antietam album)
Rope-a-Dope is the seventh studio album by the Louisville-based indie rock band Antietam. It was released in 2001 on Carrot Top Records. The album is characterized by its raw, energetic sound and its focus on personal and introspective themes. Unlike some of their earlier, more overtly noise-rock leaning releases, Rope-a-Dope showcases a more direct and emotionally vulnerable songwriting approach from guitarist and vocalist Tara Key. The album's title, a reference to Muhammad Ali's famous boxing strategy, suggests a willingness to absorb blows and endure adversity, both in the personal and artistic realms explored in the lyrics. The record received positive reviews, with critics praising Key's songwriting and the band's passionate performance.
