Yedingham

Yedingham is a small village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is located approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Pickering.

History:

The village has a rich history, dating back to at least the Norman period. The name Yedingham is thought to be of Anglo-Saxon origin. A notable historical feature of Yedingham is Yedingham Priory, a former Benedictine nunnery. The priory was founded in the 12th century and dissolved during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. Remains of the priory are still visible today.
