Green Lantern: First Flight (roller coaster)

Green Lantern: First Flight was a steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. Operating from 2011 to 2017, it was a prototype ZacSpin coaster manufactured by Intamin. The ride featured two separate cars that independently rotated around a central spine as the train traveled along a twisting, vertical track.

The experience was characterized by uncontrolled spinning and abrupt changes in direction, leading to varying rider experiences; some riders found the ride exhilarating, while others experienced discomfort or nausea. The coaster's name and theme were inspired by the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern.

Due to frequent maintenance issues and negative rider feedback, Six Flags Magic Mountain announced the permanent closure of Green Lantern: First Flight in July 2017. The coaster was subsequently dismantled and removed from the park. It was known for being a relatively short ride with a low capacity, further contributing to its operational challenges. The ride's unique design, while innovative, ultimately proved unpopular and unreliable, resulting in its relatively short lifespan.
