Firestarter (2022 film)

Firestarter is a 2022 American science fiction horror film directed by Keith Thomas, based on the 1980 novel of the same name by Stephen King. It is a remake of the 1984 film adaptation. The film stars Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Sydney Lemmon, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, and Michael Greyeyes.

The plot centers on Charlie McGee, a young girl with pyrokinetic abilities, and her parents, who are on the run from a shadowy government agency called "The Shop" that wants to weaponize her powers. Charlie must learn to control her abilities to protect herself and her family from the sinister forces pursuing them.

The film received generally negative reviews from critics, who criticized its pacing, screenplay, and reliance on jump scares, while some praised Armstrong's performance. It was released in theaters and simultaneously streamed on Peacock on May 13, 2022.
