Miwa Ueda

Miwa Ueda (上田 美和, Ueda Miwa, born March 28, 1960) is a Japanese manga artist, predominantly known for creating shōjo manga (manga aimed at a young female audience). Ueda is best known for her long-running series Peach Girl, which was serialized in Bessatsu Friend magazine from 1997 to 2003. Peach Girl achieved significant popularity, spawning an anime adaptation, a Taiwanese drama adaptation, and a Japanese live-action film adaptation. Other notable works by Ueda include Oh! My Darling, Angel Wars, and Papillon. Her style is characterized by its emphasis on emotional expression, intricate character designs, and exploration of themes related to love, friendship, and self-discovery, often set within a high school environment. She continues to be an influential figure in the shōjo manga genre.
