Astrid (band)
Astrid are a Scottish indie pop band, originally formed on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides in 1997. The core members were brothers Charlie and Willie Campbell, along with Gareth Russell.
Astrid are known for their melodic songwriting, harmonies, and introspective lyrics often reflecting the landscape and atmosphere of their island home. They achieved notable success in the late 1990s and early 2000s with singles such as "Red Radio", "It's Over", and "Highness". They released three studio albums: Strange Weather Lately (2001), Play Dead (2004), and Fall Out Boy (2006).
After a hiatus, the band reunited and released a fourth studio album, Collide, in 2019. They continue to perform and record music, maintaining a dedicated fanbase drawn to their distinctive sound and Hebridean roots. The band's name is taken from the name of Willie Campbell's grandmother.
