Mark Hunter (politician)

Mark Hunter (born February 22, 1962) is a Canadian politician. He served as the Member of Parliament for Scarborough—Guildwood from 2008 to 2024, representing the Liberal Party of Canada.

Hunter was first elected in the 2008 federal election, defeating incumbent Conservative MP David Kildea. He was re-elected in the 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2021 federal elections.

During his time in Parliament, Hunter served on various committees, including the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development and the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology. He also served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue.

Hunter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University and a Master of Business Administration degree from York University's Schulich School of Business. Prior to entering politics, he worked in the private sector in marketing and business development. He announced in late 2023 that he would not be seeking re-election in the next federal election. His term ended with the dissolution of parliament.
