Rodino (rural locality)

Rodino (Russian: Родино) is a rural locality (a selo) and the administrative center of Rodinsky District of Altai Krai, Russia. Population: 8,269 (2010 Census); 8,929 (2002 Census); 9,557 (1989 Census).

Rodino is located in the Kulunda Plain, a relatively flat agricultural region of southwestern Siberia. The climate is continental, characterized by cold winters and hot summers. Agriculture is a primary economic activity, with grain production being significant.

The village was founded in the early 20th century as part of the Stolypin reform, which encouraged resettlement to Siberia to develop agricultural lands. It quickly grew to become an important center for the surrounding agricultural region.
