David Shiner (politician)

David Shiner is a Canadian politician who served as a Toronto city councillor for Ward 24 (Willowdale) from 1991 to 2018. He was a prominent figure in municipal politics, known for his focus on fiscal responsibility, community safety, and parks and recreation.

Shiner first entered municipal politics in 1991 as a councillor for the former city of North York. Following the amalgamation of Toronto in 1998, he was elected to represent Ward 24. He consistently won re-election in subsequent municipal elections until his retirement in 2018.

During his tenure, Shiner served on numerous committees, including the Planning and Growth Management Committee, the Parks and Environment Committee, and the Licensing and Standards Committee. He was a strong advocate for responsible budgeting and often voiced concerns about wasteful spending.
