Istanbul (1st electoral district)

The Istanbul 1st electoral district is one of three electoral districts in the Istanbul province of Turkey. It elects 35 members of parliament (deputies) to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Generally, it covers the districts located on the Asian (Anatolian) side of Istanbul, along with some European-side districts. Its composition and boundaries are defined by the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey (YSK) and can be subject to change before each general election. The district is known for being politically diverse and is often closely contested between the major political parties in Turkey. The results in this district are often seen as indicative of broader political trends within Istanbul and the country as a whole.
