Tom Atkins (footballer)
Tom Atkins (born 25 August 1995) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by Geelong with pick 11 in the 2019 rookie draft.
Atkins played his junior football at the Colac Imperials and later played senior football for the Geelong Football League (GFL) club South Barwon and the Geelong VFL team. He was a multiple premiership player and best and fairest winner with South Barwon.
Known for his tackling pressure, physicality, and contested ball winning ability, Atkins made his AFL debut in round 11, 2019 against the Gold Coast Suns. He quickly established himself as a key member of the Geelong midfield. Atkins won the Carji Greeves Medal in 2022 as Geelong's best and fairest player and was a premiership player in the same year. He generally plays as a midfielder or a small defender.
