Louis Orr

Louis Orr (born May 7, 1958) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played as a small forward in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for ten seasons, from 1980 to 1990.

Orr was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Withrow High School, where he excelled in basketball. He then played college basketball at Syracuse University, where he was a key player for the Orangemen. He was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 28th overall pick in the 1980 NBA draft.

Orr played for the Pacers from 1980 to 1982. He was then traded to the New York Knicks, where he spent the majority of his NBA career, from 1982 to 1988. He also played for the Charlotte Hornets during the 1988-89 season and the New Jersey Nets in the 1989-90 season. Orr was known for his defensive abilities and consistent play.

After his playing career ended, Orr transitioned into coaching. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Xavier University. He then became the head coach at Siena College from 2000 to 2005. Following Siena, he served as the head coach at Bowling Green State University from 2007 to 2014. His coaching career was marked by periods of success, although he also faced challenges in achieving consistent winning records. Orr has since retired from coaching.
