Patrício (footballer)

Rui Pedro dos Santos Patrício (born 15 February 1988), known as Patrício, is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Serie A club Roma and the Portugal national team.

Patrício began his career with Sporting CP, making his professional debut in 2006 and going on to play in over 460 official games for the club. He won the Portuguese Cup twice and the Portuguese League Cup once. In 2018, he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers. After three seasons in the Premier League, he moved to Roma in 2021.

Patrício made his senior debut for Portugal in 2010 and has since earned over 100 caps. He was part of the Portuguese squads that won UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018–19 UEFA Nations League, playing every minute in both tournaments. He has also represented Portugal at two FIFA World Cups and two other European Championships. Known for his shot-stopping ability and command of his area, Patrício is considered one of Portugal's greatest goalkeepers.
