Heart of the Dragon (American TV series)
Heart of the Dragon was a short-lived American television series that aired in 1992. It was a syndicated action-adventure show set in Hong Kong. The series starred Tahnee Welch as Elizabeth “Li-Z” Shannon, a woman who inherits a martial arts school and becomes embroiled in dangerous adventures. Richard Jaeckel played Shannon’s mentor, Master Sung.
The premise of the series involved Li-Z using her martial arts skills to fight crime and protect the innocent. Each episode typically featured a new threat or mystery that Li-Z and Master Sung had to solve. While the series aimed for a mix of action, adventure, and drama, it struggled to find a significant audience and was ultimately cancelled after a single season. The show is largely remembered for its attempt to blend American and Hong Kong action sensibilities during a period when Hong Kong action cinema was gaining popularity in the West.
