Sid Bishop (footballer, born 1900)
Sidney "Sid" Bishop (1900 – 1949) was an English professional footballer who played as a full-back.
Born in Bristol, Bishop began his career with Bristol Rovers. He quickly established himself in the first team and became a consistent presence in the Rovers' defence during the 1920s. He was known for his strong tackling, positional sense, and reliability.
Bishop's performances for Bristol Rovers attracted the attention of larger clubs, and in 1928, he joined West Ham United. He made a significant impact at West Ham, playing regularly for the club for several seasons. His defensive abilities were highly valued, and he was considered a key player during his time with the Hammers.
After leaving West Ham, Bishop returned to Bristol Rovers for a second spell. He continued to play for Rovers until his retirement.
Following his retirement from professional football, Bishop remained in the Bristol area. He died in 1949.
