Riven (novel)
Riven is a science fiction novel written by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, published in 2008. It is the sixth book in the Left Behind: The Kids series, a spin-off of the Left Behind series. The novel continues the story of several young teenagers living through the Tribulation, following the Rapture as depicted in the original Left Behind books.
The primary narrative focuses on the trials and tribulations faced by Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan as they navigate a world controlled by the Global Community, headed by Nicolae Carpathia, the Antichrist. Themes explored within Riven include faith, courage, resistance to evil, and the challenges of growing up in a world undergoing apocalyptic changes.
Riven depicts the characters grappling with moral dilemmas, facing persecution for their Christian beliefs, and actively working to spread the word of God and resist Carpathia's oppressive regime. The novel typically features action-packed sequences and dramatic encounters as the characters fight for survival, both physically and spiritually. As part of the Left Behind: The Kids series, Riven is aimed at a young adult audience, presenting complex religious and political concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
