Union School (Filer, Idaho)
Union School was a historic schoolhouse located in Filer, Idaho. Built in 1910, it served as a prominent educational center for the community of Filer and the surrounding rural areas. The school initially housed grades one through eight, providing elementary education to local children. As the community grew, the school expanded, adding classrooms and facilities to accommodate increasing enrollment. Union School was known for its architecture, reflecting a typical early 20th-century schoolhouse design. It played a significant role in the social and civic life of Filer, often serving as a gathering place for community events and meetings in addition to its primary function as a school. In later years, the building was used for different purposes after a new, larger school was built to replace it. The historical significance of Union School stemmed from its long-standing service to the community and its representation of early education in the region. The school building was eventually demolished.
