Lívia Rév

Lívia Rév (January 5, 1916 – March 28, 2018) was a Hungarian classical pianist. Born in Budapest, she was known for her interpretations of French composers such as Debussy and Ravel, as well as works by Mozart, Schumann, and Chopin. Rév began her musical studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where she studied with Leo Weiner and Arnold Székely.

She left Hungary in 1946 and established herself internationally as a concert pianist. Rév recorded extensively, primarily for the Saga label. Her playing was characterized by its clarity, elegance, and poetic sensitivity. While she was a concert performer, she increasingly focused on recording and teaching as her career progressed. She resided in Paris for much of her adult life. Rév continued to perform and record until the late 1980s.

Rév's legacy lies in her recordings, which continue to be admired for their insightful and expressive interpretations of the classical repertoire.
