Rags (2012 film)

Rags is a 2012 Nickelodeon Original Movie that is a musical and gender-swapped reimagining of the classic Cinderella story. It stars Keke Palmer as Kadee Worth, a pop superstar whose music is controlled by her father and record label, and Max Schneider (credited as Max) as Charlie Prince, an orphan aspiring musician who lives with his mean stepfather and stepbrothers.

The film follows Charlie as he anonymously performs his music and avoids his family's abuse. He works at his stepfather's cleaning business, where he meets Kadee by chance. The two connect over their shared love of music, but Charlie hides his true identity from her. Kadee launches a talent search for a duet partner, unaware that Charlie is the talented musician she's looking for.

Throughout the movie, Charlie works to overcome his insecurities and his family's negativity, while Kadee struggles against her father's controlling nature and her desire to be authentic. The film culminates in Charlie revealing his true identity and winning the talent search, allowing him to pursue his musical dreams and be with Kadee.
