Alan Clark (bishop)

Alan Clark (born 9 July 1951) is a retired Anglican bishop. He served as the Bishop of Edmonton in the Diocese of London from 1999 to 2011.

Clark was educated at Brentwood School and St John's College, Durham. He trained for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1975 and priest in 1976.

His early ministry was spent in the Diocese of Chelmsford, serving as a curate in Walthamstow and later as Vicar of St Mary's, Great Ilford. In 1992, he became Archdeacon of Northolt, a position he held until his consecration as Bishop of Edmonton on 29 September 1999.

As Bishop of Edmonton, Clark had oversight of the Church of England parishes in the northern part of the Diocese of London. He took a particular interest in urban mission and social justice.

Following his retirement in 2011, he has continued to be involved in ministry, holding honorary roles and offering pastoral support.
