Gemini (chatbot)
Gemini is a family of multimodal large language models (LLMs) developed by Google AI. Announced in December 2023, Gemini is designed to be natively multimodal, meaning it is trained from the beginning to recognize and understand different types of information, including text, code, audio, image, and video.
Gemini comes in different sizes or versions, optimized for different use cases and platforms. These versions include Gemini Ultra, the largest and most capable model intended for highly complex tasks; Gemini Pro, designed for a wide range of tasks; and Gemini Nano, optimized for on-device use on mobile phones and other devices with limited processing power.
A key distinguishing feature of Gemini is its purported ability to reason, understand nuance, and combine information from different modalities more effectively than previous generations of LLMs. Google claims that Gemini can be used for a variety of applications, including creating new forms of content, generating creative ideas, understanding complex information, and solving difficult problems. The model is intended to power various Google products and services, as well as being available to developers through Google's Vertex AI platform and other APIs.
