Kindergarten (1989 film)
Kindergarten Cop is a 1990 American action comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Penelope Ann Miller, and Pamela Reed.
The film centers on John Kimble (Schwarzenegger), a tough police detective from Los Angeles who goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher to catch drug dealer Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson), whose ex-wife and son are believed to be in the school. Crisp is searching for his former wife, Rachel, who has absconded with millions of dollars he stole. Kimble's partner, Detective Phoebe O'Hara (Reed), was originally meant to be the undercover teacher, but she falls ill, forcing Kimble to take her place despite lacking any experience with children.
As Kimble struggles to control his energetic and unruly class, he begins to bond with the children and unexpectedly discovers a talent for teaching. He also develops a relationship with Joyce Palmieri (Miller), a fellow teacher and single mother, who is unaware of his true identity and mission.
The film combines elements of action, comedy, and romance, and explores themes of parenting, personal growth, and the contrast between Kimble's tough exterior and his developing nurturing side. Kindergarten Cop was a commercial success and is considered a classic example of Schwarzenegger's comedic work.
