Chris Davidson (athlete)
Chris Davidson (1976-2022) was an Australian professional surfer. He rose to prominence as a teenage prodigy, winning the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach in 1993 at the age of 16, defeating Kelly Slater in the final. This victory marked him as a future star within the surfing world.
Davidson enjoyed a successful career on the World Championship Tour (WCT), achieving numerous top 10 finishes. Known for his powerful and aggressive surfing style, he was a popular figure amongst fans and fellow competitors.
After retiring from full-time competition, Davidson remained involved in surfing, participating in occasional events and coaching. He passed away in September 2022 after an altercation in New South Wales, Australia. His passing was mourned by the surfing community globally.
