C.A.T.S. (TV series)
C.A.T.S., an acronym for Covert Action Teams, was a short-lived American action television series that aired in 1988. The show revolved around a specialized team of operatives, each with unique skills, who undertook covert missions for the United States government. These missions typically involved espionage, sabotage, and neutralizing threats to national security.
The series starred Michael Swan as Nick "Justice" Stone, a former Navy SEAL and the team leader. Also featured were Don Swayze as Tracker, the team's technology expert; Barry Van Dyke as Jake "Shadow" Cutter, a master of disguise; and Tricia Leigh Fisher as Crystal "Sparks" LaRue, a demolition and explosives specialist.
C.A.T.S. was produced by Stephen J. Cannell Productions, known for other action-oriented television shows. The show was characterized by its fast-paced action sequences, intricate plots, and emphasis on teamwork. However, it failed to gain a significant audience and was cancelled after a brief run of only 13 episodes. While not a major success, C.A.T.S. remains a noteworthy example of the action-adventure genre popular during the late 1980s. The show's premise is similar to other team-based action shows, such as The A-Team and Mission: Impossible.
