Annie Ros
Annie Ros (born c. 1985) is a Cambodian-American visual artist and educator based in Long Beach, California. Her artistic practice explores themes of identity, cultural memory, displacement, and intergenerational trauma, often through the lens of her family's experience as refugees from the Cambodian genocide. Ros works across various media, including painting, sculpture, installation, and performance.
Her work frequently incorporates traditional Cambodian motifs and techniques alongside contemporary materials and approaches. These juxtapositions serve to create a dialogue between the past and present, and to reflect on the complexities of navigating a dual cultural identity. Ros's art often engages with issues of community, resilience, and the ongoing impact of historical events on individual and collective lives.
Ros has exhibited her work in galleries and museums across the United States and internationally. She is also actively involved in community arts projects, focusing on art education and cultural preservation within the Cambodian diaspora. Her teaching practice emphasizes the importance of art as a tool for self-expression, social change, and healing. She holds a degree in Fine Arts and continues to be an active figure in the Long Beach arts scene.
