Rehaniya

Rehaniya is a moshav in the Upper Galilee region of northern Israel. It belongs to the Merom HaGalil Regional Council. Rehaniya is notable for being the only Circassian village in Israel, and one of the two Circassian communities, the other being Kfar Kama. The residents are descendants of Circassians who were exiled from their homeland in the Caucasus in the 19th century by the Russian Empire. They adhere to the Circassian culture and traditions, alongside their Israeli citizenship. The moshav was founded in 1878. Its economy is based primarily on agriculture. The spoken language is predominantly Adyghe (West Circassian), alongside Hebrew.
