Dois (album)
Dois is the debut studio album by Brazilian alternative rock band Legião Urbana. It was released in July 1986. Considered a landmark in Brazilian rock music, the album solidified Legião Urbana's place as one of the most important bands of the Brazilian rock scene of the 1980s.
The album's title, "Dois" (Portuguese for "Two"), simply reflects that it was their second album release (following their self-titled debut in 1985). It is known for its politically charged lyrics, addressing themes of social injustice, government corruption, and urban alienation, reflecting the socio-political climate of Brazil during the transition from military dictatorship to democracy.
Notable tracks from the album include "Eduardo e Mônica," a love story told through a narrative of contrasting personalities, "Tempo Perdido," a reflection on the meaning of life and the passage of time, and "Índios," a commentary on the state of Brazil and its people. The album was a commercial and critical success, boosting the band's popularity nationwide. The songs from Dois remain staples of Brazilian radio and continue to resonate with audiences due to their timeless themes and poetic lyrics.
