Kamešnica (mountain)

Kamešnica is a mountain range on the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. It is part of the Dinaric Alps. The highest peak, Konj (Horse), reaches an elevation of 1,856 meters (6,089 feet). The mountain is primarily composed of limestone and dolomite rock formations.

The area is characterized by karst topography, featuring sinkholes, caves, and underground drainage systems. Vegetation on Kamešnica varies with altitude, ranging from forests of oak and beech at lower elevations to alpine meadows and rocky terrain near the summit.

The mountain is sparsely populated, with small villages located in the foothills. Traditional activities such as livestock grazing and agriculture are still practiced in the region. Kamešnica offers opportunities for hiking and mountaineering, although the terrain can be challenging in places. The mountain also has historical significance, having served as a border region and a site of conflict during various periods.
