Julie Suk
Julie Suk (born 1942) is an American poet and professor emerita of English at Davidson College in North Carolina. She is known for her accessible and emotionally resonant poetry, often exploring themes of family, memory, loss, and the natural world.
Suk received her B.A. from Hollins College (now Hollins University) and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. She taught at Davidson College for many years, where she was highly regarded as an instructor and mentor.
Her published works include the poetry collections Against the Grain (1971), The Madwoman in the Attic (1979), Heartwood (1991), The Dark Takes Aim (2003), and Lie Down in Darkness: New and Selected Poems (2019). Her work has appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies, and she has received various awards and fellowships for her writing.
