Chuping
Chuping is a town located in the state of Perlis, Malaysia. It is situated near the Thailand-Malaysia border. The area is predominantly agricultural, known for its sugarcane plantations and other agricultural activities.
Chuping is also the location of the Perlis Inland Port (PIP), a major economic development project aimed at boosting trade and logistics activities in the northern region of Malaysia. This port is intended to serve as a regional hub for cargo transportation.
The name "Chuping" is believed to be derived from the Malay word "cukup" meaning "enough" or "sufficient," potentially referencing the area's fertile land and ample resources for agriculture.
The town is relatively small and characterized by its rural landscape. Public transportation options are limited, with reliance primarily on personal vehicles or local buses. The nearest airport is Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Alor Setar, Kedah, approximately an hour's drive away.
In addition to agriculture and the Perlis Inland Port, potential economic activities in Chuping also include tourism, focused on its natural landscapes and proximity to the border.
