Chris Hegarty (footballer, born 1984)
Chris Hegarty (born 11 December 1984) is an Irish professional footballer who primarily plays as a defender. He has also been deployed in midfield.
Hegarty began his career in the youth ranks of Home Farm before moving to English side Bristol City. He spent time on loan at Bath City and Weston-super-Mare whilst with Bristol City, before making a permanent move to Mansfield Town in 2007.
After a spell at Mansfield Town, Hegarty returned to Ireland and played for Derry City, Sligo Rovers, and Dundalk. He won the League of Ireland Premier Division title with Sligo Rovers in 2012 and with Dundalk in 2014. He also won the FAI Cup with Sligo Rovers in 2010.
Subsequently, Hegarty played for Finn Harps and returned for another spell at Derry City. His career has been marked by versatility and experience in both English and Irish football leagues.
