Michael Simpson (painter)

Michael Simpson (born 1940) is a British painter known for his meticulously rendered, often surreal and unsettling, oil paintings. His work frequently depicts figures, objects, and architectural elements isolated in ambiguous spaces, often rendered in a precise, almost hyperrealist style.

Simpson studied at the Royal College of Art in London. His paintings often explore themes of isolation, powerlessness, and the absurdity of the human condition.
