Michael Carney (politician)
Michael Carney is a Canadian politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Ottawa Centre from 2006 to 2008, representing the Liberal Party of Canada.
Carney was first elected in the 2006 federal election, defeating incumbent New Democratic Party MP Paul Dewar. He served on several parliamentary committees during his time in office.
In the 2008 federal election, Carney was defeated by Dewar in a rematch. Following his electoral defeat, Carney has remained involved in political and community activities, although he has not sought elected office again. His background is in law and community organizing.
