Greedy (film)

Greedy is a 1994 American comedy film directed by Jonathan Lynn and starring Michael J. Fox, Kirk Douglas, Nancy Travis, Olivia d'Abo, and Phil Hartman. The plot revolves around the McTeague family and their attempts to get the inheritance of their wealthy, wheelchair-using Uncle Joe (Douglas).

Joe McTeague is a miserly millionaire who is lonely and looking for companionship. His relatives, motivated by greed, vie for his attention and try to convince him to leave his fortune to them. They believe that if Joe dies without a will, the estate will be divided equally among them.

The family consists of Joe's nephew Danny (Fox), a former professional bowler who is now happily married and content with a simple life; his brother, Ed (Hartman), and Ed's wife Patti (Travis), who are constantly in debt; and another niece, Robin (d'Abo), a gold digger.

When Joe announces his intention to marry a young, attractive nurse named Molly Richardson (Edie McClurg), the family fears she will inherit everything. They conspire to break up the relationship and try to manipulate Joe into leaving his fortune to them. Danny is initially reluctant to participate in his family's scheming but is eventually drawn in, motivated by his own desire to secure his family's future.

As the family's antics escalate, they become increasingly outlandish and desperate. Ultimately, Joe sees through their greed and decides to teach them a lesson. The film explores themes of family, greed, and the importance of appreciating what one has.
