Matthew Bacon (cricketer)

Matthew Bacon (born 19 September 1972) is a former English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler who played first-class cricket for Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

Career

Bacon made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire in 1994. He spent several seasons with the county, primarily as a lower-order batsman and change bowler. He was known for his aggressive batting style when given the opportunity, and his ability to swing the ball.

In 2000, Bacon moved to Leicestershire. He enjoyed a more prominent role at Grace Road, becoming a regular member of the first team. His performances improved, and he contributed more consistently with both bat and ball. He played a key role in Leicestershire's success in limited-overs cricket during this period.

Bacon retired from professional cricket at the end of the 2003 season.

Notable Performances

While not a prolific run-scorer, Bacon did occasionally produce notable innings. Specific details of these innings would require further research to include specific scores and match details. His bowling performances, similarly, contributed to team success at various times.
