Hornice
Hornice is a defunct village in the Czech Republic, located in the Ústí nad Labem Region. It was situated in the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) near the present-day border with Germany. The village was abandoned in the latter half of the 20th century, largely due to the displacement of German-speaking populations after World War II and subsequent border policies implemented during the communist era. Historically, the area was part of the Sudetenland. Prior to its abandonment, Hornice was known for its mining activities and small-scale agriculture. Today, little remains of the original village except for remnants of foundations and overgrown vegetation, serving as a historical reminder of the region's complex past. The surrounding area is now primarily forested.
