Gloria (American TV series)

Gloria is an American sitcom that aired on CBS from September 26, 1982, to April 10, 1983. It was a spin-off of All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place, featuring Gloria Stivic (played by Sally Struthers) as the main character.

The series follows Gloria as she navigates single motherhood and a new career as a veterinarian's assistant in a rural upstate New York town called Fox Ridge. Having divorced her husband, Michael "Meathead" Stivic, Gloria struggles to balance her personal life with the challenges of raising her young son, Joey (played by Christian Jacobs).

The show co-starred Burgess Meredith as Dr. Willard Adams, the veterinarian Gloria works for, and Lou Richards as Clark Gilbert, a widower who becomes a romantic interest for Gloria. Other notable cast members included Jo De Winter as Maggie Gilbert, Clark's daughter, and Allan Melvin, reprising his All in the Family role as Barney Hefner in a guest appearance.

Gloria attempted to continue the socially relevant themes of its predecessor shows, often addressing issues such as single parenting, gender roles, and small-town life. However, the show struggled to find an audience and was cancelled after one season consisting of 21 episodes. Despite its short run, Gloria remains a notable entry in the television history of All in the Family spin-offs, demonstrating the network's attempt to further explore the life of a beloved character.
