Fizeau (crater)

Fizeau is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon, behind the eastern limb. It lies to the southwest of the larger crater Grachev, and northeast of the Mare Ingenii.

The rim of Fizeau is heavily eroded and somewhat distorted in shape, particularly along the southern edge. Several small craters lie along the rim and within the interior. The largest of these is a small crater along the southwest inner wall, and another along the north-northwestern rim. The inner walls are irregular in shape, with slumped sections.

The interior floor is relatively level but uneven, with several minor impacts and small ridges. It lacks a central peak. The crater is named after the French physicist Hippolyte Fizeau.
