Dick Wolf

Dick Wolf (born Richard Anthony Wolf on December 20, 1946) is an American television producer, best known as the creator and executive producer of the Law & Order franchise.

Wolf began his career as a copywriter for Benton & Bowles, where he wrote commercials for Crest toothpaste. He later moved into television writing, working on shows such as Hill Street Blues and Miami Vice.

In 1990, Wolf created Law & Order, a police procedural and legal drama that became a cultural phenomenon. The show was known for its "ripped from the headlines" storylines and its focus on both the police investigation and the subsequent legal proceedings. Law & Order ran for 20 seasons, tying the record for the longest-running primetime drama series with Gunsmoke.

Following the success of the original Law & Order, Wolf created several spin-offs, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU), Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Law & Order: UK, and Law & Order: Organized Crime. Law & Order: SVU, premiering in 1999, has surpassed the original Law & Order in longevity, making it the longest-running primetime U.S. live-action series.

Beyond the Law & Order franchise, Wolf has also produced other successful television series, including the Chicago franchise (Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Chicago Justice), and FBI franchise (FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, and FBI: International). His productions are known for their interconnected storylines, often featuring crossovers between different shows within a franchise.

Wolf has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including Primetime Emmy Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is considered one of the most successful television producers in history.
