Jerusalem (Jerusalem album)

Jerusalem is the self-titled debut album by the British hard rock band Jerusalem, released in 1972. The album is notable for its heavy, proto-metal sound and the involvement of Ian Gillan and Roger Glover of Deep Purple as producers.

The album contains nine tracks, characterized by powerful guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and raw vocals. While not commercially successful upon its initial release, Jerusalem has since gained a cult following among fans of early heavy metal and is considered a significant contribution to the genre's development.

The band Jerusalem consisted of Lynden Williams (vocals), Paul Dean (guitar), Ray Sparrow (bass), and Chris Monk (drums). The album's sound, heavily influenced by Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, is often described as aggressive and uncompromising. Key tracks on the album include "Frustration", "Hooded Eagle", and "She Knows".

Despite the album's critical acclaim in retrospect, Jerusalem disbanded shortly after its release, making Jerusalem their only studio album. The album has been re-released several times and continues to be appreciated by enthusiasts of vintage heavy rock music.
