North Tayside (Scottish Parliament constituency)
North Tayside was a constituency of the Scottish Parliament from 1999 to 2011. It elected one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by the first past the post method of election. It was one of nine constituencies within the Mid Scotland and Fife electoral region.
Created at the same time as the Scottish Parliament itself, North Tayside covered an area of Perth and Kinross council area. Specifically, it included the area north of Perth itself, encompassing towns like Blairgowrie and Rattray, Coupar Angus, Dunkeld and Birnam.
Following a review of constituencies by the Boundary Commission for Scotland, North Tayside was abolished for the 2011 Scottish Parliament election. Its area was largely absorbed into the new constituency of Perthshire North.
The Members of the Scottish Parliament for North Tayside were:
- John Swinney (Scottish National Party) 1999-2011
As the constituency no longer exists, there is no current MSP.
