Hochdonn
Hochdonn is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is located approximately 15 kilometers southeast of Heide.
The municipality is known for its location on the Kiel Canal (Nord-Ostsee-Kanal), one of the world's busiest artificial waterways. A prominent feature in Hochdonn is the Hochdonn High Bridge (Hochdonn-Hochbrücke), a large railway bridge that spans the canal. This bridge is a significant landmark and important transportation link.
Historically, Hochdonn was primarily an agricultural area. The construction of the Kiel Canal in the late 19th century and the subsequent development of transportation infrastructure significantly impacted the region's economy and development.
Administratively, Hochdonn is part of the Amt Mitteldithmarschen.
