Studenec (Ljubljana)

Studenec is a settlement in the City Municipality of Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is located within the quarter of Sostro, in the eastern part of the capital city. Studenec lies at the foot of the Posavje Hills (Posavsko hribovje) and is known for its rural character, although increasingly suburban. The area's traditional agricultural practices are gradually giving way to residential development. The name "Studenec" is derived from the Slovene word for "well" or "spring," indicating the presence of water sources in the area. The settlement is composed of several smaller hamlets and individual farmsteads. Its proximity to Ljubljana allows for easy access to the city's amenities while maintaining a more tranquil, semi-rural environment.
