Chris Richards (soccer)

Chris Richards (born March 28, 2000) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a center-back for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League and the United States national team.

Richards began his professional career with FC Dallas in Major League Soccer (MLS). He joined Bayern Munich initially on loan in 2018, before making the move permanent in January 2019. While at Bayern, he primarily featured for their reserve team, Bayern Munich II, but also made appearances for the first team, winning Bundesliga titles in 2020 and 2021. He spent a portion of the 2020-21 and the entire 2021-22 seasons on loan at TSG Hoffenheim.

In July 2022, Richards transferred to Crystal Palace.

Internationally, Richards has represented the United States at various youth levels before making his senior debut in 2020. He was a member of the United States squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He is known for his athleticism, defensive capabilities, and ability to play out from the back.
