Graham Mackay
Graham Mackay (1949-2013) was a South African businessman best known for his leadership of SABMiller, one of the world's largest brewers. He joined South African Breweries (SAB) in 1978 and rose through the ranks, becoming managing director in 1997 and chief executive officer in 1999. Under Mackay's direction, SAB transformed from a regional player into a global brewing giant through a series of strategic acquisitions, most notably the acquisition of Miller Brewing Company in 2002, which led to the creation of SABMiller. He is credited with significantly expanding the company's operations into emerging markets, particularly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Mackay stepped down as CEO in 2013 but remained executive chairman until his death later that year. His tenure at SABMiller is recognized for its substantial growth, international expansion, and shareholder value creation.
