Albinia (ship)
The Albinia was a British cargo ship built in 1929 by William Hamilton & Company in Port Glasgow, Scotland. She was owned and operated by Ellerman Lines, specifically their Hall Line subsidiary, and primarily served trade routes between the United Kingdom and India. During World War II, the Albinia served as a merchant vessel transporting essential supplies and personnel. She was sunk by a German U-boat, U-96, on June 12, 1940, in the North Atlantic, approximately 200 miles west of Ireland. The sinking resulted in the loss of numerous lives. The Albinia is remembered as one of the many merchant ships lost during the Battle of the Atlantic.
