Prime (film)
Prime is a 2005 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Ben Younger, starring Uma Thurman, Meryl Streep, and Bryan Greenberg.
The film centers on Rafi Gardet (Thurman), a 37-year-old divorced businesswoman who begins a romantic relationship with David Bloomberg (Greenberg), a 23-year-old aspiring artist. Their relationship becomes complicated when Rafi discovers that David is the son of her therapist, Lisa Metzger (Streep).
The film explores themes of intergenerational relationships, age differences in romance, cultural and religious differences (Rafi is divorced and Catholic, while David is Jewish), and the ethical dilemmas faced by therapists. Lisa grapples with maintaining her professional boundaries while navigating her personal feelings about her son's relationship.
Prime received mixed reviews, with critics praising the performances of Thurman and Streep but finding the plot somewhat predictable and the characters underdeveloped. It was a modest box office success.
