Marriage Strike (1953 film)
Marriage Strike is a 1953 West German comedy film (original German title: Ehe für eine Nacht) directed by Paul Verhoeven. The film stars Georg Thomalla, Hans Nielsen, and Edith Mill. The plot revolves around a businessman who seeks to acquire a contract by temporarily "marrying" the daughter of a potential business partner to appease the partner's traditional values. The film is a lighthearted farce exploring themes of societal expectations around marriage and the lengths people will go to for financial gain. It is considered a representative example of post-war German comedy cinema. While not widely known internationally, Marriage Strike was a successful domestic release in Germany.
