Steve White (drummer)

Steve White (born 12 May 1965) is an English drummer, best known for his work with Paul Weller and The Style Council.

White joined The Style Council in 1983 at the age of 17, replacing Tony Meehan. He remained with the band until their split in 1989. His drumming style, characterized by precision and rhythmic complexity, was a significant factor in the band's distinctive sound.

Following The Style Council's breakup, White continued to work with Paul Weller on his solo albums and tours. He was a mainstay in Weller's band for over two decades, contributing to albums such as "Wild Wood" and "Stanley Road".

Beyond his work with Weller, White has also worked as a session drummer and performed with other artists, including Jon Lord of Deep Purple. He also has his own jazz quartet, The Steve White Quintet. He is known for his advocacy of traditional drumming techniques and his commitment to live performance. White has also been involved in music education, offering drumming workshops and masterclasses.
