Kings Park station (LIRR)

Kings Park station is a station on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch, serving the hamlet of Kings Park, New York. The station is located on Indian Head Road (Suffolk County Road 66) north of Route 25A (Fort Salonga Road).

The station has two high-level side platforms, each ten cars long, serving two tracks. The northern platform is generally used for westbound trains towards Huntington and New York City. The southern platform is generally used for eastbound trains towards Port Jefferson.

Kings Park station is a major transfer point for Suffolk County Transit buses. The station provides access to the historic Kings Park Psychiatric Center, although the center itself is now largely defunct.

The original Kings Park station was built in 1850 by the Smithtown and Port Jefferson Railroad. It was replaced with a second station in 1891, which burned down on August 3, 1923. A third station was built in 1924, and it remained in service until it was razed in 1998 as part of the electrification of the Port Jefferson Branch. The current station was opened in May 1998, coinciding with the electrification project.
